Senator Patrick Leahy Endorses Clear Path International
To Whom it May Concern:
I am writing today to convey my support for the important humanitarian work of Clear Path International. Active in Southeast Asia, Clear Path International is helping to reduce the number of casualties from landmines and other unexploded ordnance.
Clear Path International is engaged in the largest ordnance removal clearance project of its kind by an American non-governmental organization in Viet Nam and is seeking to initiate a similar effort in Cambodia. With the support of the Freeman Foundation of Stowe, Vermont, Clear Path's effort will remove leftover ordnance on nearly 110 acres on the former Dong Ha Combat Base. Once cleared, the land will be developed for much needed housing, organic farming and aquaculture.
Clear Path International also supports the children and families whose lives have been scarred by accidental explosions in Quang Tri Province. The organization provides emergency medical care, nutritional support, physical therapy and special scholarships for the victims.
In this way, Clear Path International promotes understanding between Americans and the people of Southeast Asia who are still suffering from the wounds of war. I am confident that with increased support, Clear Path can expand its work in the region and help more communities overcome this tragic legacy.
Sincerely,
Sen. Patrick Leahy
