Help Us Raise $10,000 for Our Burma Programs

We have 25 DAYS to raise $10,000 or lose all donations made as of Oct. 9 on Kickstarter. The money will go to fund the making of a documentary on the issues confronting the Burmese. The Human Rights Watch (HRW) states that the humanitarian crisis in Burma is “one of the worst in the world.” Clear Path has been working with ethnic refugee committees along the Thai/Burma border since 2002. We strongly believe that the documentary will focus attention on the situation in Burma and generate support for our programs there. To help, click here.

Unique Savings Program in Cambodia

Members of the Phum Seam Farmers’ Cooperative and Rice Mill established by CPI and its partner organization, CVCD, recently received their first savings account books to track their contributions and shared savings. The program was designed to teach landmine survivors the value of saving money for future needs. Each family contributes a few dollars per year to the community savings pool and, in the event of an emergency, can apply to borrow money from the fund at no interest. If a family needs to borrow from the savings pool for a longer period of time, they are charged a simple interest rate of 3% which is collected at the end of harvest. New Partnership Model with Afghan NGOs

CPI has received approval from the Ministry of Economy for registration of a new model for service development, a consortium. CPI, along with three of its Afghan partner organizations, formed the Physical Accessibility Consortium for Afghanistan (PACA). The consortium will be the first of its kind in the country. Formal recognition by the Ministry of Economy enables PACA to pursue donor support from a position of combined individual strengths and a shared vision. The four organizations have developed physical accessibility ramp solutions at several key public sites in Afghanistan since 2010.

CPI Supports New Physical Rehabilitation Center in Kunar Province

On July 7, CPI’s implementing partner, Development and Ability Organization (DAO), inaugurated a new Physical Rehabilitation Center in the mountainous eastern Afghanistan province of Kunar. Locals with disabilities, landmine survivors and those impacted by other explosive remnants of war will now have access to rehabilitation services. Located in Asadabad, the Provincial capital, the center will serve the Kunari people as well as those from nearby Nuristan Province, and offers a broad range of services including physical therapy, provision and repair of prosthetics and orthotics, mobility aides, and peer support.
